THE WORD BEHIND THE HOUSE
WHY WHERE YOU GATHER MATTERS.
The name "The Brook Place" is rooted in the Hebrew nachal — a stream or river, especially one that flows through a valley or arid land. In Psalm 1:3 the blessed man is like a tree planted by streams of water. The brook is not decoration. It is survival. It is the source that keeps you from drying out in seasons of spiritual drought. You are invited to be planted here.
Synagō is the verb behind the word "synagogue" and it means to lead together, to bring into one place. In Matthew 18:20 Jesus declares: "Where two or three are synagō in my name, I am there among them." The gathering is not logistical — it is theological. When the people of God come together, they create a container for the presence of Christ. Your presence in the room is not optional. It is part of the miracle.
In Genesis 28:16, Jacob awakes from his dream of the ladder and says, "Surely the Lord is in this maqom." The word means place, location, or appointed spot. But in Hebrew thought a maqom is not merely a geographical coordinate — it is a site of divine encounter. Bethel was a maqom. The Temple Mount was a maqom. We believe The Brook Place is your maqom.
